Implementation Possibilities

Implementation Possibilities

*Not available on the Host Computer System (HSC)

Who could access Flight Object information:

  • National Airspace system (NAS) users and tools
  • Air Traffic Management (ATM) users and tools

What's expected to be available when (identifying candidates without addressing which will be implemented when):

  • Limited flight object information as early as the Free Flight Phase 1 (FFP1) time frame
  • Host Computer System's flight information outside the flight object, through direct connections with the ATM capabilities, in the FFP1 and Free Flight Phase 2 (FFP2) time frames
  • Host's flight information available through the flight object, not until beyond the FFP2 time frame

How flight information will be stored or accessed:

  • No assumptions made by
  • Range of possible options:
    • Centralized database containing the best available information on each flight
    • Completely decentralized, with information available directly from those responsible for maintaining it
  • Many issues about Flight Object architecture and implementation (see associated issues)
    • Coordinate study with projects developing and updating capabilities that use or provide flight information

Issues for Analysis and Evaluation

The Flight Object Concept raises a number of issues. These issues are listed here, along with recommendations for resolving them. All issues should be addressed before the flight object can be implemented in an operational environment.
